Terms of use

1. What Stroku is

Stroku is a free channel for Roku devices, distributed through the Roku Channel Store. It shows catalogues and plays media returned by add-ons that follow the publicly documented Stremio add-on protocol. Stroku does not host, store, index, or distribute media, runs no content servers, and keeps no catalogue of sources.

Stroku comes with Cinemeta, which supplies titles, artwork, and descriptions, and OpenSubtitles, which supplies subtitles. Neither supplies video, and Stroku ships with no stream source configured. Its home screen also shows public catalogues of anime, YouTube channels, and public-domain films.

2. Stroku Server

Stroku Server is a separate, optional, free Android app, downloaded from this website rather than an app store. It is a BitTorrent client: when you set its address in Stroku, torrent results from add-ons you installed are downloaded by your phone, shared with other peers while they download, and served to your Roku on your local network. Stroku works without it.

3. Add-ons and services are your choice

Every add-on beyond the two above is installed by you, from a manifest URL you obtain and enter yourself. Add-ons, and services you connect to them, such as debrid services, are independent third parties. Their content, availability, terms, pricing, and legality are the responsibility of their operators and of you.

Where this site recommends Real-Debrid, it is because it gives the best playback on a Roku. That is not an endorsement of any content you reach through it and not advice that any use is lawful where you live.

4. Acceptable use

By using Stroku or Stroku Server you agree not to use them to:

  • access, download, reproduce, or share any work in a way that infringes copyright or any other right;
  • circumvent a technological protection measure, paywall, or geographic restriction;
  • connect any source you do not have a lawful right to access; or
  • break any applicable law.

You are responsible for the sources you connect and what you watch or share through them. If you are unsure whether something is lawful where you live, do not use it.

5. Licence

You may install and use Stroku and Stroku Server free of charge for personal, non-commercial use. You may not sell them, or redistribute them bundled with or preconfigured for any third-party source.

6. No warranty and no liability

Stroku and Stroku Server are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. They may change, break, or be withdrawn at any time. To the extent the law allows, the authors are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the software, this website, or their use.

7. No affiliation

Stroku is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Roku, Inc., Stremio, Real-Debrid, OpenSubtitles, or any add-on operator or rights holder. Trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to describe compatibility. Distribution through the Roku Channel Store does not mean Roku, Inc. endorses the sources a user connects. Films shown on this website are in the public domain or Creative Commons licensed.

8. Infringement notices

Stroku hosts no media. If you believe material distributed by this project or shown on this website infringes your rights, write to gabrielsmith1874@gmail.com with the work concerned, where the material appears, and your contact details.

9. Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top changes with them. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
